Small businesses are the beating heart of our communities, providing jobs and fostering local economies. They are more than just businesses; they are our neighbours, friends, and pillars of support.

In October, during Small Business Month, we recognize the unwavering commitment small businesses have to their communities through a unique partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Canada. This year, we’re proud to have partnered with 12 Moneris small business customers to donate $200,000 to RMHC Canada.

RMHC Canada Receives $200,000 Boost from Moneris and Small Businesses

RMHC Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and comfort to families of sick children operating 35 Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in communities across the country. Globally, RMHC operates a network of more than 385 programs around the world. More than a place to stay, RMHC program locations give families the support and resources they need like meals, mental health and wellness programming, and sibling support, so they can focus on what matters most – caring for their seriously ill child. Donations to RMHC Canada help ensure families of sick children can remain together during difficult times, because with a well-cared for family at their side, sick children get stronger.

“For more than 40 years, RMHC has proudly supported families with seriously ill children across Canada by providing the support and resources they need while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital,” said Kate Horton, President & CEO, RMHC Canada. “Thanks to the generous spirit and unwavering support of small businesses in Canada, together with Moneris, more sick children have access to what they need most – their families.”

Through a $200,000 donation to RMHC Canada, these small businesses are enabling 847 nights of stay for families. This means that countless families will have a place to call home while their children receive life-saving treatment.

Good For Small Campaign

Moneris’ Good for Small campaign focuses on supporting RMHC Canada’s mission and fostering connections between our small business customers with their local RMHC Canada house. Moneris donates on behalf of our small business customer to participate in the campaign. By participating in the campaign, the small business owner can tour and volunteer at their local RMHC house, strengthening their connection with the community. In addition, they receive increased visibility with their business name on the campaign website and a feature on Moneris and their local RMHC Canada’s social channels. Reinforcing the message that small businesses have a big impact in the community.

“October is Small Business Month, and last year we were proud to support our local community by partnering with Moneris and RMHC Canada on the Good for Small campaign. What made this even more special is that Jess' Cafe was the sole business from British Columbia to participate in this initiative. Their unwavering commitment to our community is not only commendable but also a shining example of the spirit of giving that defines our local businesses. This incredible act of kindness reaffirms the critical role that small businesses play in nurturing the well-being of our neighborhoods. It demonstrates that together, we can create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.”
