Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Joe Pilotte has worked in the city’s club and bar scene for as long as he can remember. It was the catalyst to his career in the restaurant industry, and it eventually led to his role at the Ye Olde Orchard Pub and Grill in 2005, now known as the Orchard Group.
The pub first opened in Montreal’s Monkland Village – a commercial street that’s home to a variety of small businesses, bars, and restaurants. Today, with several locations across Quebec, including a sister restaurant called the Lord William Pub, each space offers a cozy, tavern-style atmosphere offering pub-classics like burgers, fish and chips, and a hearty selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
Today, Joe is the co-owner, and vice president of operations, at the Orchard Group and is responsible for supporting the staff and management of all locations. He has seen each restaurant through many phases of growth and development over the years, helping to navigate through exciting times and its toughest challenges, such as the onset and aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As in-person restaurant and bar service has resumed, Joe is incredibly grateful for the community who has continued to support the Orchard Group through the pandemic and beyond.
Why the Orchard Group chose Moneris as their preferred payment provider
Since he joined the restaurant, Joe only remembers a brief period when the restaurant wasn’t processing payments with Moneris. They tried testing a different payment processor but ultimately brought Moneris back.
“Moneris is a well-known, trusted brand. They are a staple in the industry and are very good at what they do. They are constantly trying to evolve their products and services to fit the needs of their customers,” said Joe.
Joe attributes Moneris’ customer service and support as playing a significant role in the restaurant’s decision to remain a long-term merchant.
What’s Next?
“We’re a Quebec-based business, and we’re proud to be here. We’d for sure like to open a few more locations in the province. And then, who knows? Opening a location in Ontario would be great, or even in another neighbouring province. We have a lot in common, and it would be ideal,” said Joe.
