James Hicks is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Moneris, Canada’s largest provider of payment and commerce solutions to businesses. James has extensive international payments and financial technology experience having lived and worked in North America, Europe and Asia as an executive at some of the industry's leading players. Prior to Moneris, James was based in Europe as the Chief Strategic Partnership Officer within Nexi's Merchant Solutions Business. During his career, he also served as Executive Vice President, Global Acceptance and Solutions for Mastercard based at the company’s New York Headquarters and held a number of leadership positions around the world at Global Payments including President of Global Solutions, President of Global Payments Asia Pacific, and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Payments / HSBC Asia-Pacific joint venture. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, James lived in Prague where he was President and Executive Director of Global Payments Europe following several years as an executive within Global Payments Canada and CIBC’s Merchant Services division in Toronto.
Ira B. Polikoff
Chief Financial Officer
Ira is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Moneris. As CFO, Ira manages the financial strategy, management, reporting, and treasury operations of the organization. With over 25 years of experience in senior financial management positions within the Financial Services and Human Capital sectors, Ira has worked with entrepreneurial start-ups to large global public corporations. Prior to Moneris, Ira was the CFO of Recruitics , a leading data-centric recruitment marketing agency. During his time at Recruitics, he successfully managed the business during the pandemic and through a period of post-pandemic growth. Prior to Recruitics, Ira held several Chief Financial Officer roles within American Express across a number of business units, including Global Merchant Services.
Ira holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania's College of Arts and Sciences, and an MBA from Columbia University.
Bruce Nanton
Chief Information Officer
Bruce Nanton is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Moneris. As CIO, Bruce’s responsibilities include; IT strategies, application development, technology infrastructure, information security, technology support as well as technology and enterprise project management. Bruce is accountable for delivering reliable, scalable, secure and high performance platforms. Bruce has over 25 years of experience in the payment industry and has held several senior leadership roles in Sales, Operations and IT delivery leading large teams and delivering on strategic vision.
Prior to Moneris, Bruce was Chief Technology Officer & Senior Vice President with Global Payments where he provided technology delivery and integrations, leading teams across a worldwide organization.
Bruce has previous Board experience, having sat on Boards in Asia Pacific, the Philippines and Canada. Bruce brings strategic leadership and experience building partnerships for success and sustained growth.
Bruce has been happily married for over 30 years, has two wonderful children and two dogs. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in Political Science & Marketing from the University of Manitoba.
Denise Hayes
Chief Human Resources Officer
Denise Hayes is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Moneris. Denise leads the HR function across the employee life cycle and is responsible for ensuring the HR strategy is aligned to the business strategy. Denise joined Moneris in June 2014 and has over 25 years’ experience in HR, of which 17 years have been at the executive level.
Prior to Moneris, Denise was SVP, People for Saint Elizabeth Health Care, a 6000 employee community health agency where she prepared the organization for future growth and expansion. Prior to Saint Elizabeth, Denise spent 15 years with ADP Canada as VP of Human Resources where she led the HR function through a period of significant growth, both organically and through acquisitions.
Denise is currently a Board member at The Living Arts Centre of Mississauga and a prior Board member of Mohawk Shared Services.
Patrick Diab
Chief Product Officer
Patrick Diab is an expert in the payment industry, having worked for Canada’s leading payments company, Moneris Solutions since 2002. Currently, as Chief Product and Partnership Officer, he is responsible for market opportunity identification and strategic growth. His previous roles include Chief Product Officer, where he launched multiple products in Canada and transformed Moneris POS systems, and Vice President of Product and Client Solutions, managing significant projects for large national and international clients in various verticals and industries.
Patrick's expertise spans technology, leadership, sales, and strategy, and he holds a Global Executive MBA from the Kellogg-Schulich School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering and Economics from the University of Toronto. A recognized industry leader, Patrick has spoken at numerous trade summits and is committed to mentoring through initiatives with the Electronic Transactions Association, Elevate, and MaRS Innovation Hub in Toronto.
In his personal life, Patrick is a devoted father who enjoys travelling and camping.
Faeron Trehearne
Chief Legal and Risk Officer, Corporate Secretary, and Government Relations
Faeron oversees Moneris’ Legal, Privacy, AML, Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, and Government Relations teams, and is accountable to the Board of Directors as Corporate Secretary.
Faeron joined Moneris in 2014, as Chief Legal Officer and has increased her scope of responsibility during her tenure at Moneris. She was a member of the Department of Finance/Bank of Canada Retail Payments Activities Act Advisory Committee and is currently Moneris’ representative on FinPay. She holds and ICD.D designation, currently serving as a member of SPRINT Senior Care’s Governance Committee. In 2021 Faeron was named to the Globe and Mail’s ROB Best Executive list.
Prior to joining Moneris, she worked at various organizations and law firms including, TD Bank Group, Oracle Corporation, Torys LLP, Goodmans LLP, and Stockwoods LLP where she built her experience in business, technology, privacy and payments law. She is known for being a business lawyer who embraces and drives change, optimizes legal services delivery and creatively enables the business to thrive and compete.
Marc Hollenberg
Chief Operations Officer
Marc Hollenberg is the Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Moneris. Marc joined Moneris in 2014 to lead our Customer Experience Team. Marc brings over 20 years of leadership experience in the financial services and customer experience fields, driving strategies to deepen relationships with customers and enhance organizational effectiveness.
As COO, Marc leads Moneris’ customer engagement strategy as well as our Customer Enablement, Business Transformation, Chargebacks and Field Services teams. His mandate is to enhance digital service/support offerings and develop future support strategies that serve to differentiate Moneris and support our long term strategy of strong customer and employee engagement.
Prior to joining Moneris, Marc held senior positions at Rakuten Inc. as well as American Express. Marc has a proven track record leading large teams to execute on customer experience improvement and operational excellence strategies. Marc is originally from Montreal and moved to Toronto in 1998. Marc and his wife have been together for 20 years and have a daughter and 2 dogs.
