On the V400c terminal, the cardholder will be able to hear audio prompts coming from the terminal when accessibility has been enabled for the transaction.
Note: If accessibility is not enabled by the cardholder for the transaction, the terminal will not offer the audible prompts, but will still beep at its normal times, such as when a contactless card is tapped, or when a chip card is inserted to remind cardholders to remove their card from the chip card reader.
These audible prompts read out some of the on-screen text and provide the following:
card entry instructions e.g., “ Please tap, insert, or swipe your card”;
feedback on card entry e.g., “Tap not accepted, please retry” or “Enter your PIN”;
the transaction results e.g., "Your transaction is processing, please wait." and “Your transaction was approved. Remove your card”;
instructions for tip entry e.g., “Would you like to leave a tip?” ;
cardholder receipt output options e.g., "How would you like your receipt? Press 1 to text, press 2 to print, press 3 for none."
