You must prepare your terminal before you process transactions:
1. Do one of the following:
If you are setting up a standalone terminal (with or without an external iPP320 PINpad), connect the hardware now.
If you are setting up a semi-integrated terminal (to work with your ECR), follow the steps for semi-integration in "Setting Up the Terminal in Semi-Integrated Mode" beginning at step 2.
2. Once you have set up the hardware, do one of the following:
If you are setting up a standalone terminal (with or without an external PINpad), go directly to step 3.
If you are setting up a semi-integrated terminal (to work with your ECR), enable Semi-Integrated mode now:
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: Ethernet/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure at step 3.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: RS232 serial/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet or dial, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure at step 3.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: USB/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet or dial, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure at step 3.
3. Configure the terminal's communications parameters (and enable the PINpad if an external PINpad is attached).
4. Initialize and log the terminal onto the Moneris Host as follows:
If you are setting up a standalone terminal (with or without an external PINpad), initialize and log the terminal onto the Moneris Host now.
If
you are setting up a semi-integrated terminal (to work with your
ECR), do the following:
a. Configure the terminal-to-ECR communications parameter now:
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: Ethernet, continue your semi-integrated overview setup procedure at step 5.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: RS232 serial, continue your semi-integrated overview setup procedure at step 5.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: USB, continue your semi-integrated overview setup procedure at step 5.
b. Initialize and log the terminal onto the Moneris Host.
5. Do one of the following once you have initialized and logged on the terminal:
If you are setting up a standalone terminal (with or without an external PINpad): Go to step 6 below.
If you are setting up a semi-integrated terminal (to work with your ECR), do one of the following:
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: Ethernet/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure at step 7.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: RS232 serial/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet or dial, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure step 7.
- For setup using terminal-to-ECR cable: USB/terminal-to-host cable: Ethernet or dial, continue your semi-integration overview setup procedure at step 7.
6. Select the optional features you intend to use on the terminal, and then configure the features and general parameters as appropriate to your setup.
Once the terminal is ready to use, practise performing transactions in Training mode to ensure that any errors made while learning to perform transactions do not affect your business account.
