Configuring Static Private IP Communication

If your terminal will communicate with the Moneris Host over the Moneris Private IP Network with Static addressing, you will need to set up these parameters.

Before you begin you will need:

From the READY screen (or the TERMINAL SETUP REQUIRED or REINITIALIZATION REQUIRED prompt):

To navigate through the menus:

- Scroll down: press
the key to move the highlight bar down.
- Scroll up: press
the key to move the highlight bar up.
- Select a
highlighted item: press the green  key.

For information about the keys...

1. Set up the Host Parameters as "Private"

 

2. Select the Communications Type

a.  Press the
The MAIN MENU appears.

b.  Scroll down to CONFIGURATION, and press the green key.
The CONFIG FUNCS menu appears.

c.  Scroll down to GENERAL PARAMS, and press the green key.
The GENERAL PARAMETERS menu appears.

If the SWIPE ADMIN CARD prompt appears, swipe the POS admin card.

d.  Press the green key to select COMMS TYPE.
The COMMUNICATION TYPE menu appears.

e.  Press the green key to select ETHERNET.
The GENERAL PARAMETERS menu appears.

f. Press the red key once to access the CONFIG FUNCS menu.

g. Scroll down to ETHERNET CFG and press the green   key.

The ETHERNET SETUP menu appears.

 

3. Set up the Terminal Type as Static

a.  Press the green key to select TERMINAL SETUP.
The TERMINAL SETUP menu appears.

b.  Press the green key to select TERMINAL TYPE.
The TERMINAL TYPE menu appears.

c.  Scroll to STATIC, and press the green key.
The TERMINAL SETUP menu reappears.

d.  Scroll to TERMINAL ADDR, and press the green key.
The ENTER TERMINAL ADDRESS entry screen appears.

e.  Key in the terminal's IP address and press the green key. ( Entering alphabetic characters and punctuation )
The TERMINAL SETUP menu reappears.

f. Scroll down to MASK ID, and press the green key.
The ENTER MASK ID entry screen appears.

g. Key in the terminal's Mask ID, and press the green key. ( Entering alphabetic characters and punctuation )
The TERMINAL SETUP menu reappears.

h. Scroll down to GATEWAY, and press the green key.

The ENTER GATEWAY ADDRESS entry screen appears.

i. Key in the Gateway Address, and press the green key. ( Entering alphabetic characters and punctuation )
The TERMINAL SETUP menu reappears.

j.  Do one of the following:
If you are setting up a standalone terminal (with or without an external PINpad): Skip this step, and go directly to step k.  
OR
If you are setting up the terminal to work as a semi-integrated device with your ECR:

i.  Scroll down to PORT NUMBER, and press the green key.

ii.  key in the Port Number that the ECR is using to communicate with the terminal, and press the green key.
The TERMINAL SETUP menu appears.

k.  Press the red  key once.
The ETHERNET SETUP menu appears.

4.Test the connection to the Moneris Host

a. Press the red key once.
The REBOOT TERMINAL message appears and then the terminal reboots.

b. When the READY screen (or TERMINAL SETUP REQUIRED or REINITIALIZATION REQUIRED) appears, press the Admin key twice, key in 13, and press the green key.

c. Press the red key to test the connection.
The TCP HOST CONNECTION OK PRESS OK prompt appears if the connection is up.

d. Press the green key to return to the READY screen (or TERMINAL SETUP REQUIRED or REINITIALIZATION REQUIRED).

e.  If you are configuring the terminal for the first time, go back to "Configuring Communications."

The terminal is ready to communicate with the Moneris Host over the Internet.
